Biography

Alex Beishuizen started his career as a news reporter for a Dutch regional newspaper in 1982 at the age of 16. After graduating in 1988 he worked for several regional and national radio stations as a freelance reporter, editor and presenter. In 1990 he was appointed chief of the newsroom of a regional radio station. During this period he successfully finished various management studies.

While working as an editorial manager he studied marketing and in 1996 he graduated.

From 1996 until 2000 he worked as a marketing manager for two regional broadcasting companies. During this period he discovered the ultimate connection

between journalism and marketing: the Internet.

In the year 2000 he was appointed editor-in-chief of Soneraplaza, an internet portal for a telecom and internet provider from Finland. This was – of course – shortly before the burst of the Internet bubble.

The second largest daily newspaper in The Netherlands, Algemeen Dagblad, recruited him and appointed him managing editor of the internet department in 2001. He succeeded in making the website the fastest growing news website in The Netherlands during his years as editorial manager.
From 2003 until 2005 he was managing editor of the arts & media department and the opinion & readers department of Algemeen Dagblad.

Late 2005 VNU Media recruited him as a deputy editor-in-chief for their two IT-brands, Computable and CRN. In July 2006 he was appointed editor-in-chief for both brands. From September 2008 until March 2009 he was editor-in-chief at e-business magazine Emerce.

In March 2009 he founded Beishuizen Media Support.

In April 2009 he published his first book about cross media publishing at publishing house Mediata in Amsterdam: Online of flatline (Online or flat line).

In February 2010 VNU Media appointed him editor-in-chief at Intermediair. Since March 2012 he is full time self-employed.
